The following description is based on the 2012 Hungarian edition of Stevan J. Thayer’s handbook *Integrated Energy Therapy: Basic Level Guide*.

In this article, I present the IET’s own approach and conceptual framework. „Cell memory”, „energy blocks” and the emotional associations linked to specific areas of the body form part of the method’s energetic model; they are not anatomical diagnoses or biological explanations validated in their own right.

What does the ‘energy-based approach’ mean?

The IET links energetic patterns to emotional experiences, repressed feelings and self-limiting thoughts. In its own terminology, these imprints stored in „cellular memory” can hinder the free flow of life force. In this system, an energy block indicates such a blockage.

The method’s energy model refers to channels and integration points. During an IET session, the aim of working with these is to support energy balance, as well as to release and integrate patterns linked to repressed emotions.

IET does not diagnose illnesses, is not a substitute for medical or psychological care, and does not promise a cure. It is not possible to determine the cause of a physical complaint from the body-region correspondences presented here, nor does it follow from them that a disease of a particular organ stems from a specific sensation.

Activation and integration

Two key concepts in IET are activation and integration. Within the system, activation refers to the preparation for release; during integration, we work with the supportive quality associated with the particular emotional pattern. Examples of such pairs include guilt and innocence, distrust and trust, or fear and safety.

The method involves applying gentle touch and light pressure to specific integration points. The IET description interprets this as an energetic process; however, this does not mean that everyone will experience an immediate change, or that the change will be the same for everyone.

What sort of experiences might follow an IET session?

The IET’s official information leaflet describes varying experiences that may be observed over several days: a sense of lightness, liveliness and composure, but also fatigue or restlessness. These are experiences described in the method’s instructions; they are not effects that necessarily occur in everyone or last for a specific period of time.

There is no need to expect anything out of the ordinary from ourselves. Nor is it advisable to automatically regard feelings of unease, persistent tiredness or severe emotional distress as „cleansing”: if symptoms persist or worsen, appropriate medical or psychological help may be required.

Body regions and emotional qualities in the IET system

The breakdown below follows the IET’s energy map throughout. The examples illustrate the experiences through which the system links the individual areas; they are not diagnostic lists.

Crown of the head, crown chakra

The IET associates this area with a connection to unconditional divine love and the theme of repressed guilt. According to the system, the quality of innocence serves as a supportive counterpart to the work on guilt.

Related experiences may include:

Acts and omissions: a sense of guilt about what we have done or failed to do.

Expectations associated with childbirth: for example, the feeling that one of the parents would have preferred a child of the opposite sex.

The image we have of God: the fear of a punishing, vengeful God.

Life situations experienced with a sense of guilt: for example, divorce or relationship conflict; merely describing such a life situation does not constitute a moral judgement.

The concept of original sin: the idea that we came into this world as sinners from the very start.

In the language of the method: activating the release of guilt and integrating the energy of innocence. Releasing guilt is not the same as shirking responsibility for our actions or failing to make amends.

Third Eye

The IET associates this area with mistrust, one’s relationship with intuition, and experiences relating to the balance between male and female roles. The emphasis is on the themes of choice, decision-making and trust in one’s own perceptions.

Related experiences may include:

A painful decision: when, after making a decision based on our intuition, we experience harm or disappointment.

Loss of trust: experiences of being deceived or cheated on.

Childhood experiences: a lack of trust arising from physical or emotional abuse.

In the terminology of the method: activating the release of mistrust and integrating the energy of trust.

Throat and lungs

The system associates shame with self-expression in this area. Self-expression includes speech, artistic creation and spiritual expression, such as prayer or meditation.

Related experiences may include:

Restrained self-expression: when we don’t dare to say or show what’s inside us.

Disregard: when we find that there is no place for us to speak out.

Shame: when self-expression – or even receiving praise – causes a sense of discomfort.

In the language of the method: activating the release of shame and integrating the energy of spiritual pride.

The back of the neck

In this area, the IET focuses on the experience of feeling threatened and under attack. A related theme is trust in security and in the world.

Related experiences may include:

Self-defence: a defensive response to fear.

Threat level: an attack experienced on a physical, emotional or spiritual level.

Voltage: the physical tension experienced in conjunction with the threatening situation.

In the terminology of the method: activating the release of the sense of threat and integrating the energy of support.

Shoulders

The IET associates the shoulders with the burden of „musts”, constraints and obligations: those things we feel we must do or avoid in order to gain the acceptance of others.

Related experiences may include:

Conditional acceptance: an environment in which we are not accepted for who we are.

Self-surrender: Putting our own needs and sense of self on the back burner in the name of love or recognition.

In the language of the method: activating the letting go of compulsions and „musts”, followed by integrating the energy of freedom.

Heart

The IET associates this area with the experience of heartache and betrayal. The related theme is the possibility of giving and receiving love.

Related experiences may include:

Rejection: when our affection or love is not reciprocated.

Shortage: when love no longer comes from the place where we used to receive it.

Betrayal: a loss of trust experienced within an important relationship.

In the language of the method: activating the release of heartache and integrating the energy of love.

Step

The system associates the spleen area with repressed anger. The IET describes this as an experience which can make it more difficult to make room for joy and happiness.

Related experiences may include:

Vulnerability: experiencing the situation of being a victim.

Violence suffered: experience of physical or emotional abuse.

Feeling of weakness: when we don’t feel we have the strength or the freedom to act.

In the terminology of the method: activating the release of suppressed anger and integrating the energy of forgiveness.

Liver and gallbladder

The IET associates this area with the themes of explicit anger and rage. The focus is on experiences linked to grievances, resentment and the desire for justice.

Related experiences may include:

Unresolved grievances: events which are still associated with intense anger.

The desire for justice: when we hope that one day we will be able to find closure for what has happened.

In the terminology of the method: activating the release of anger and resentment, followed by the integration of the energy of forgiveness. This description does not imply that the cause of depression or a physical ailment can be determined from this.

Adrenal glands and stomach

The system associates this area with stress and helplessness, particularly when someone feels unable to either escape from or confront a stressful situation.

Related experiences may include:

Emergency: physical or emotional threats that we don’t know how to deal with.

External pressure: threats arising from family, workplace, business or political circles.

Abusive relationships: circumstances in which we lose confidence in our own strength.

In the terminology of the method: activating the release of stress and fatigue, followed by the integration of the energy of lightness and fluidity. This does not imply a diagnosis of the state of the immune system or a guaranteed improvement in its functioning.

Kidneys

The IET associates the area of the kidneys with repressed fears. It also includes the anticipated sense of danger we feel when we fear that some terrible event is about to occur.

The feeling of fear is real even if the imagined danger does not materialise. That is why I would not generally describe fear as false, nor would I ignore a genuine threat.

In the language of the method: activating the release of fear that is difficult to process and integrating the energy of safety.

The location of the method

This guide provides an insight into the IET approach; it is not a treatment manual. Familiarising oneself with the concepts of the system does not mean that every physical or mental difficulty must be interpreted using this framework.

A spiritual interest and seeking appropriate professional help can go hand in hand. I believe it is important that turning our attention inwards is accompanied by a sense of responsibility and respect for our own boundaries.

With love,
Georgina
Soul4you

Az Integrated Energy Therapy® (IET) olyan spirituális-energetikai módszer, amely az angyali energiával való kapcsolódást és az energetikai mintákkal végzett munkát helyezi a középpontba.

{"_s4y_en_tartalom":"
Integrated Energy Therapy® (IET) is a spiritual-energetic method that focuses on connecting with angelic energy and working with energy patterns.
